How to Fix a Water Damaged Phone in 5 Steps
Water damage is a race against electrochemical oxidation. Short circuits happen in seconds when electric current flows through liquid residue on the PCB.
Step 1: Power Off Immediately
Turn off the device right away. If the screen is unresponsive, perform a hard-reset shutdown to disconnect power to internal ICs.
Step 2: Do NOT Plug in Charger
Connecting a charger sends 5V-20V through wet power circuits, causing fatal motherboard burnt tracks.
Step 3: Skip the Rice Trick
Rice leaves starchy dust in ports and fails to absorb moisture trapped inside IC shields. Wipe exterior moisture and keep in ventilated room.
